We are big, big fans of Firefox. Put simply, Firefox makes us look good!
Our online storefront looks simple and is easy to use, but it's really quite a sophisticated web application. We throw everything we've got at the browser - on the fly DOM manipulation, XML parsing and querying with XPath, AJAX with SOAP requests, and countless thousands of lines of JavaScript.
Whilst that doesn't mean much to most people, it lets us create the best storefront experience we possibly can. And we can do it because we develop on Firefox, and test in everything else. Microsoft have woken Internet Explorer from hibernation, and delivered their first update in 6 years - IE7. And granted, it is much better than IE6 but it still runs our app slower than Firefox, and we still have to optimise specifically for IE. That's not much fun, because it slows us down in rolling out new features.
If you're an IE fan then fair enough! We've worked hard to make sure you still get all the goodness of the Applebox storefront. But please upgrade to IE7, 'cause its just plain faster. And if you really want to support the web - download Firefox 3 and give it a go.
For the Mac Safari fans out there - we like Safari too! Unfortunately during our development phase it lacked in some of the features we need for our XML processing. With the latest release of Safari that's now in place so as soon as we can revisit Safari we will.
