THE FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY!

Wow what a great turn out. We had between 200 and 250 people turn up to the combined First Birthday Party. Well done everyone for braving the cold and heading out! Turned out to be a chilly but clear night and a great time was had by all. It was really great to see so many familiar faces and the whole night had a fantastic community feel (someone commented that it’s all very Ramsay St!). All 3 businesses are so pleased with what is happening on our little strip and glad you could join us in celebrating making it through a year. Anyone who has ever started a business knows just what an achievement that is!! (Simon and I are still pinching ourselves that a year has gone already… and it still works!)

I would like to apologise to all those children who were given balloons to blow up themselves instead of being able to take my helium ones from APPLEBOX. Apparently I was being mean…but they looked pretty in the shop…. once an art director always an art director!

And what about those artworks hanging in APPLEBOX, Bean Counter and newNorth Print. It was really hard to choose the winners but chosen they were.

The winners were
  • Over 7 years - Jamima White
  • Under 7 years - Niamh Malony
The runners up were
  • Over 7 years - Isabella Hose
  • Under 7 years - Harry

Jamima and Niamh had their entries printed on canvas, with Isabella and Harry getting their entries printed to archival quality photo paper, courtesy newNorth Print. We will be exhibiting the entries for the next fortnight so make sure you get down to have a look.

I would like to extend a very big thank you to Mark Narkowicz of The Dunaways fame for the live music. I think we all agree that live music turns a gathering into a party!

Michael and Emma did an AMAZING job on the bar and bbq so thank you so much. Squiggle cam was a hoot and I think we all agree that having the Gallery Space is a hidden treasure trove. There are some really amazing exhibitions hanging at the moment so if you didn’t get upstairs at the party make sure you do soon. The tapestry is incredible.

Next party will be in the warmer months, we will put something together for the Fiesta in October and are talking about a Christmas Party next…..

But for now THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT OVER THE PAST YEAR and we hope you continue to enjoy what’s happening on Railway Place.

now who’s opening that bar?!!

    Happy Birthday Applebox!

I moved into the street in August last year too so I kinda feel like it’s my anniversary also. Thanks for makin’ it special and for creating such a hip happening street to live and play on.

I’m liking the bar idea… perhaps I could buy out the RSL and revamp it?
Or I could just start making cocktails from my lounge room…

    Keep up the being tops.

Ha! nothing like a home-brewed cocktail, but I suspect we’ll all then be moving in to your place. We’ll chip in what we can to help nab the RSL … but in the meantime Michael needs to get Bean Counter licenced for this summer! We’re all gettin’ thirsty :-).
